Bullet Proof

Been there, done that, messed around
I’m having fun don’t put me down,
I’ll never let you sweep me off my feet,
I won’t let you in again, the messages I’ve tried to send,
my informations’ just not going in,
burnin’ bridges shore to shore, I’ll break away from something more,
I’m not to not to love until it’s cheap,
been there, done that, messed around,
I’m having fun don’t put me down,
I’ll never let you sweep me off my feet,

This time baby,
I’ll be,
Bulletproof

I won’t let you turn around,
and tell me now I’m much too proud,
to walk away from something when it’s dead,
do do do your dirty words come out to play when you are heard,
there’s certain things that should be left unsaid,
tick tick tick tick on the watch and life’s too short for me to stop,
Oh baby, your time is running out,
I won’t let you turn around,
and tell me now I’m much too proud,
All you do is fill me up with doubt,

This time baby I’ll be bulletproof

Happy Hippies are We....

There are a few songs that will get me going. These songs are anthems, the ones that make me want to dance and cry and laugh all at the same time. Forget the world and just be a flower child, living freely, answering to no one. Because I'm an original. These are a few of my favorites:

The Cave, and Little Lion Man; Mumford and Sons

Dog Days are Over; Florence and the Machine

The First Day of Spring; Noah and the Whale

40 Day Dream, Om Nashi Me, and Home; Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros

The Mummers Dance; Loreena Mckennitt

Chicago; Sufjan Stevens

These are just a few that at any moment played, will cure any sadness I am feeling and lift my spirit to a higher place. I am done feeling sad for no reason, and I hope you are too. Let's be hippies today and take a road trip together with this music blasting in our crackly old speakers. Let the wind hit your face through the open window throwing your hair about your face, your hand out the window, falling up and down with the flow of the breeze, let's watch a sunset together, and forget our troubles. Let's be silent and not let a thing in this world make us sad. We'll enjoy God's green earth together, you and I both and the rest of our bohemian amigos will follow suit. I call shot gun.

So this one night.... 12/07/2011

On this dark cold night, I care not whether words come as easily to me as it does to others. I will make up patterns and phrases to speak and sing on this lonely balcony.

Why glow moon shine, why set sun, firefly? I make sounds of longing in this heart of gold; Wants to comfort you, wants to tell you it's alright. Do I know this light, discover shimmers, catching glimpses of my life? I shackle my mind to waves of passive sight seeing only others short words that they write on this forum of sameness, how can it tame us, leave us shameless when I know not the fickle blameless plight of souls not nameless.

I may not be as good as I used to be, comparing who I am to those around me. I used to be good, used to know what to say, now only silence fills this room as it tackles my mind like a hand holding wood. This is what it takes, writing till my mind breaks, till I have to try again, I shake; I'm not ready to make stained glass panes of color for others to see into my brain.

Dreaming in the Present

So it's that time of night again...wait. It's only 10 o clock in the evening? I've been up since 6:30 this morning for no apparent reason. Well...I remember dreaming. It was the kind of dream that I want to be a part of my future...the one every girl wishes for. Being together with the one they love. The thing is, if I happen to wake up and remember this dream, I will sit and reformat it to exactly my specifications...and create a future with this man in my head.

In this early morning, such a dream occurred, and never has it caused me to awaken and not go back to sleep. I cracked the right side of the shutter door to let the light in and the crisp, tropical morning air, the usual hundreds of birds chattering as if singing their good mornings to one another. I stand on the balcony, my elbows resting on the cool granite of the railing, smiling to myself. I am never up this early except on rare occasions or when I had a job, but never was it to enjoy the beautiful day that was starting.

Some of these mornings that I can remember distinctly were some of the best mornings of my life. I remember a sunrise hike for girls camp, many actually, where we got up at 4 in the morning with sleep in our eyes, but a determination to see this sunrise. Headlamps on our head and dusty shoes, trekking up the mountain; and when we reached the top, it was nothing but silence. We were asked not to speak as to keep the stillness, the thoughtfulness in tact. Like now as I am writing with my headphones in my ears, but no music; don't want to ruin the moment of clarity. We would read letters from our mothers, tears were shed; I cry a lot more these days. I am turning into my mother I think.

Another morning I remember grabbing my long-board and rushing out the door at 6. It was glorious. The plan was to ride the Provo river trail with a friend. He often and almost everyday before his mission, took his long-board and rode the short mile from his house in the canyon that it took to get to Bridalveil falls to sit in front of the falls, practically alone except for the occasional jogger and their dog, and would lie down on his board, listening to the sound of the water, cascading into the shallow pool below. It was his way of starting the morning. I wanted a piece of that. I brought my scriptures as well. It's something driving through the canyon and having the sun peek out of the clouds just around a mountain bend....nothing quite like it.

Sitting on my rooftop with my cousins Amber and Liana with a new camera (we took lot's of silly pictures that day) and watch the sunrise with pillows and blankets. I have an incredible view of the mountains from my window at home...I miss it very much. At night, the Provo temple shines like a white glow worm from 3 miles down the road or so, it was why I chose the room. So many of these small yet significant memories...significant because I gave them permission to be so, to be drawn out of my memory to be smiled upon again.

Back to my room here, eating a simple breakfast of bananas and bread and chocolate milk....it was oh so sweet. It felt good to be up, even if I wasn't sure of the purpose. I can't let my mind wander too much into self created futures...for I don't want to disappoint myself if it doesn't happen the way I imagine it in my head. Perhaps it'll be something better. I cried today, for I didn't feel I had much of a purpose here. It seems to me, that in this world we feel the need to be busy all the time. I sometimes think that we really don't spend enough of the free time we have, like I do now, without work to do, to take these simple mornings, the memories of sunrises past, the starting of these brand new days to really look into ourselves and see that it's OK to be alone, to be solitary and recreate oneself, like I am trying to. I'm not telling you this to say, "oh look I've had a spiritual rebirth" I just need to get it out here somehow, to share it. It confirms the belief and the knowledge of my confidence and my own self worth.

Remember to be simple. Live simply. As I was feeling sad today when a friend of mine asked me if I was liking it here, if I was learning the language. I found myself downplaying. It was a pity party, tears flowing trying not to show it because I've been waiting around for IT, THIS time, this experience to feel meaningful. You can't wait anymore. The thought that crossed my mind later was, "Why are you wasting your time, these moments on feeling sad, or depressed? Go study something. Enlighten yourself."
Wallowing is poison for the mind. It's a prison for your special and unique self. I still struggle as I am sure that I am not the only one who does. But everyday, you have to conciously chose to fight against the darkness, no matter how much you want to stay where you are. Fight back my friend.

We are young. And though we are not completely free of responsibility, I realized too that in that dream, the one I am trying to create, that it's MY LIFE, and no one else's to create. Thank your parents when you see them next. Tell them you love them. You appreciate all the advice; Because you need it, the contrast so that you can listen, nod your head in appreciation, then go ahead and do what YOU want. What will make your life happy, YOU. Here's to finding your balance. Now, go watch a sunrise.

Back to basics

There are times when I get down on my knees, and that's all I know how to do, and ever song I hear describes the situation I'm going through. The hand of God guides me and I know that he is truth. He seems to know exactly what I'm going to do. He's there at every step, to guide my every move. I'm not afraid to praise now; my weakness becomes my strength, my laughter is my medicine, my pain is motivation to endure, my mind be renewed.

Pulsate

Hundreds of lights pulsate and blink like a midnight sky. Decension brings them closer as if touching a universe, worlds opening up beyond comprehension. Closer it comes and my mind wanders down....though I've been up in heaven for what seems like forever....

Hexagons

Streets of hexagons and horses behind fences; men are on bikes riding nowhere fast. The sun blinds our eyes as time goes by slowly, the same people we see are those in most need.I see these things through the eyes of a passerby. The houses rise and fall like the shallow tides of the reef, many dwell in non belief and all someday will die. Here comes the change faster than expected. A change for the better good...actions speak louder than words ever could.

Just worry about Today.....

I'm not much of a blogger....I usually don't spread my feelings around to the internet save it be for facebook and those who know me best. I don't know what I am supposed to write here right now...so I'll just go with it.

Life here is beautiful? Life is happy when you choose it to be? It doesn't matter how far away you go from your home, your life, you will always have to deal with your problems there and everywhere. Don't take what you have, where you are for granted. Life is in a rose, in the raindrops, in the sand on the beaches....in the sky when you are thinking about something you just read, moments of brilliance, of overwhelming happiness consume you. So please. Take a moment today and walk outside. Leave your car at home. Grab a book, a journal, a camera, your ipod (that is a must) with your favorite tunes and start walking. The pounding vibrations in your feet create a spinning wheel in your mind, it's a machine for thoughts. Try not to over think, but let any though cross your mind that uplifts you; and with every step you take, forget about the past. Let your gut fill with that excitment, that joy, that feeling that "everything is going to be ok" Gaining the strength to forgive yourself.

Because nothing in this world is to good for you....nothing can stop you. Let your life, your body, your soul be open to everything, even heartbreak. And stop trying to control your life and how it will turn out...Maybe one day you'll be walking down the street and pass an opportunity, something to teach you. Seize it, let it in you, let it build you. God put you here to not be tested by him....but to test yourself through what he gives you. If you feel sad because you know you are special, but someone doesn't see just what they're missing, wish them the best, but walk away and live your life. Live simply. Because there is only one person who lost you....the answer is clear isn't it? Walk tall superfox. You've got this.
